PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller – Advanced features and full specification

Design

Essentially, while it may not seem like it from a first glimpse, the DualSense controller is based on the PS4’s DualShock 4 – undoubtedly the best controller in PlayStation’s history so far. It just brings it all to a different level. The color has changed, to a two-tone design to resemble the PS5 itself, while the size is increased and rounded off a few. But the thumbsticks are in a similar position and there is still a touch panel at the top. A lightbar returns too, although around the touchpanel rather than on the top.

Perversely, this means it’s not harmonious with PSVR, even though the virtual reality headset is backed by PS5 – the lightbar can’t be perceived by the camera. Nevertheless, it does have motion sensors inside, so maybe a later version of PSVR could use motion-sensing rather.

The buttons and D-pad are encased in clear plastic, but you no longer get various colors on the iconic symbols. The grips aren’t very well sticky though as they are quite smooth.

The controller uses the USB-C standard, making for a charging port that will work with all styles of cables.

Battery life

It has a higher capacity battery, which doesn’t necessarily mean a longer battery life – it could be there to support the new, more intense, features. The battery is light in weight and inbuilt. You may able to play games for around 12 hours on the DualSense wireless controller

Haptic feedback

One new feature supplemented to the DualSense controller is in-depth haptic feedback. Instead of just the plain old rumble pack spotted in controllers over several ages of gaming, the DualSense admits actuators that provide a player more stable, adaptable feedback to better involve him or her in a game. Even the scantiest in-game effects can proffer players extra precise feedback through the controller. For instance, driving over ice feels strange in Dirt 5 than driving over gravel.

Built-in microphone

The DualSense controller comes with a built-in microphone and mono speaker. You can chat with your friends online using the built-in microphone or by connecting a headset to the 3.5-mm jack. Also, switch off voice capture with help of the dedicated mute button.

Adaptive triggers

Along with haptic feedback, the brand-new controller adopts adaptive triggers for the L2 and R2 buttons, which can hold your fingers and make for yet more immersion. These describe the controller’s biggest next-generation tech, with various levels of force feedback available to developers to execute in their games. For instance, if you are dragging a bowstring to fire an arrow, the trigger can be simple to press at first but get tougher and need more pressure as the string extends. It is entirely something to behold once you have your first go on the controller.

Create button

Create button is replaced instead of the share button. Which is almost identical. It gives players additional ways to produce gaming content and broadcast their adventures live to the world.

Backward compatibility

DualSense comes with much-advanced technology. But the backward compatibility is a slight issue. You cannot use your old PS4’s DualShock 4 controllers with PS5 DualSense wireless controller games. Because it will not work on a DualShock(Playstation 4)controller.
